Who we are

JLR Autocare is an independent garage with two workshops — one on Wilbury Way in Hitchin, Hertfordshire, and one at Souldrop near Bedford. We are a DVSA-approved MOT station for Class 4 and Class 7 vehicles, and our technicians include JLR-trained staff qualified to work on electric and hybrid vehicles with 1000V-rated test equipment. We are not a franchise and not a chain — the people who own the business work in it, and the person who quotes your job answers for it.

What we do

We service, MOT, diagnose and repair all makes, with a specialism in Jaguar, Land Rover and Range Rover and the German marques — BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Porsche, Volkswagen, Skoda and SEAT. That covers routine servicing to manufacturer schedule, MOT testing, brakes, clutches, timing belts, gearboxes, engines, suspension, air conditioning, auto-electrics, ADAS calibration, four-wheel laser alignment, and EV and hybrid work including battery and charging diagnostics.

Diagnostic work is a particular strength. We run the same dealer-level equipment the main dealers use — JLR SDD and Pathfinder, BMW ISTA, VAG ODIS, Mercedes Star — and we work from the manufacturers' own technical data, wiring diagrams and specifications rather than pattern-part guesswork.

Our policy, in plain terms

You get a written quote before any work begins, with parts and labour shown separately. If we find something extra once the car is apart, we stop, ring you, and wait for your answer — we never go beyond what you authorised. A part is only condemned when a measurement proves it has failed against the manufacturer's figure. We do not fit customer-supplied parts, because we cannot guarantee a part we did not source. And if we advise a repair you choose to leave, that advice is printed on your invoice with the date and the risk we explained.

Transparency

Our MOT, servicing and diagnostic prices are published on this website — not hidden behind a phone call. Every job carries a written record of what we found, what we measured, what we advised and what you agreed to, and that history stays with the vehicle. If you sell the car, it is evidence of how it has been looked after. Our guarantee is six months on parts we supply and work we carry out, and we tell you up front what it does not cover rather than reaching for small print afterwards.

Dedication

We would rather spend two minutes telling you a noise is nothing than sell you a repair you do not need, and we will tell you plainly when a repair is not worth doing on a car of that value. Most of our work comes from repeat customers and word of mouth, which only happens if the car stays fixed. That is the whole business model: prove the fault, fix it once, write it down.
